Trends - Summer 2010

School's out, the boys of summer are back and the pools are open! Summer is here and we're ready for it. From sunscreen to sundresses to sandals, here's a go-to list for your summer shopping experience!

Fashion

Jeans and a tee...nothing's more all-American summer than that! Make it a jean skirt mini, add some sparkle to the tee, put on a knockout necklace—any way you dress it up (or down!) this combo’s a fashion winner.

From hippie to hip. Tie-dye is the dress to die for this summer. From casual to couture, nothing tops tie-dye for the fashion forward. Find it on t-shirts and bags too!

If you can't tie-die, then ripple. Water ripple patterns are being seen everywhere from runways to red carpets. It seems everyone’s embracing water this summer.

Speaking of water, did we mention swimsuits? That's right, it's time to buy the suit! But don't worry. Modern fashions cater to every body type. From bikinis to tankinis to tanks; to suits with built in bras to suits with shapewear to suits with boyshorts. If you want it you'll find it. So get ready to make a splash in your new swimsuit.

Don't worry about the suit at all if you have a cover-up that makes you the fashion-envy of the pool. Wraps, sundresses and even pretty oversized tees can be too cool to take off.

Jellies jam! That's right...those time pieces with translucent, bendable bands are back in all your favorite flavors! Pick a jelly in one or a dozen colors.

If you don't care about the time, then switch out that jelly watch for a good old-fashioned bangle. Oh, who are we fooling -- There's nothing old fashioned about this modern trend! Decorate your wrists with bangles this summer. And lots of them. Mix, match and stack bangles in a variety of styles...wide, thin, jeweled, plain, silver, gold, natural or bold. It's all good and it's all in style.

It's in the bag. Towels, swimsuits, beach novel...whatever you're carrying this summer, make sure you're toting this season's oversized and bright, bold bags! The brighter the bag and the bolder the pattern, the better. And you'll need it to carry...

Stuff! You know, summer stuff! Stock up now on moisturizing sunscreen, self tan, hair defrizzer, skin de-oiler, water and sweat-proof make-up and of course, some cool shades!

Flip for these flops! Every summer needs a sandal. This year's selection embraces jeweled embellishments, bows, ribbons, chains…you name it! Anything that flashes can flip-flop!

High-five for high tops. This season colorful, sleek high-top tennies come stylishly adorned with buckles, straps and grommets, so you keep comfort with the couture.

We can never get enough shoes, can we? Here's one more for summer...the strappy summer wedge. Works great with a skirt for work or after-hours jeans.

Black and white's been big all year, but for summer let's just go with white. It's simple. It's summery. And it looks great on a tan! You'll see it everywhere this summer.

If you're looking for color, look for purple. Call it violet, grape, lilac, plum, amethyst, ... you get the idea. It's all purplicious and it's the color for summer!

Ostentatious! Over-the-top! Outlandish! This season's oversized rings are all that and more. And we say they deserve an ovation!

Get back to nature with this summer's nude make-up colors. From lips to nails, au naturel is the look to look for.

Simple summer. Summer fashion is best when it's minimal. Find a great skirt that hits just above the knee, a pretty patterned cap sleeved shirt, and distinctive, yet comfortable flats. Fashion doesn't get any simpler than that. (and you'll look great!) Dress it up with some bold, chunky, colorful jewelry.

Of course, nothing's simpler than shorts in the summer. This season cuffed shorts are popular as wells as Bermudas. If you've got the legs for them, go with a pair of this season's popular short-shorts.

Keep this year's metallic trend going with a short, silver wrap skirt. Pair it with this season's it color—purple—and you'll be the "it" girl of the night.

Don't forget Dad!

Father's Day is June 20. And don't stick him with the same old boring tie. Try out some of these great ideas instead...A small personalized cooler just perfect for stashing a couple of cold ones, a digital e-reader, a fishing pole or tackle box, mountain bike shoes, a funky beach shirt, a new 9-iron, or just get him a hammock with a stand and let Dad relax in the comfort of his own home.

Diamonds are a boy's best friend. That's right...it's baseball season. Enjoy the 2010 baseball season on a new HDTV. Or just go to the park yourself in a jersey of your favorite team or player. Even better, pick up a bat and some gloves and head to a nearby park with the kids for a game of catch.

Fire up your Fourth of July with a new grill or grilling tools. Get those coals burning and invite friends and family over for your barbecue. Be ready to serve them all on your new outdoor serving set in patriotic colors.
